Our Mission
Friends of McCreery Park (FOMP) is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization committed to enhancing McCreery Park’s role as a cherished community hub. Through advocacy, community involvement, and fundraising, we will build on the City’s major renovation of our downtown park, ensuring it provides a memorable and enjoyable experience for residents and visitors of all ages.
We believe McCreery Park’s central location is one of the town’s greatest assets. Its visual appeal has the potential to not only bring the community together but also attract visitors, supporting the tourism that fuels our local economy.
In sum, our vision is to help McCreery Park reach its full potential as both a gathering place for the community and a symbol of our town’s welcoming spirit.

The City of Saluda fought for and won the grants that made the renovation possible including:
● The new ADA-compliant “zig-zag” path.
● Permanent seating at the Ella Grace Mintz stage
● The beautiful stone courtyard near the Scout Hut
● Enhanced lighting and vegetation clearing to reveal the true size of the park

As a local volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our mission is to transform the park from basic framework to community focal point. The park's highly visible downtown location presents a unique opportunity — every person driving through Saluda sees McCreery Park, making it our town's natural showcase. We're committed to creating a space so distinctive and beautiful that visitors will remember and talk about Saluda.
We focus on projects that:
● Improve comfort and usability (shade structures, seating)
● Expand recreational opportunities including playground equipment
● Add beauty through gardens and public art
● Foster community engagement
● Enhance safety and accessibility
Each potential project is prioritized based on its visual impact, community benefit, funding requirements, and long-term maintenance needs.

Our all-volunteer board of seven local residents ensures that 100% of your donations go directly toward park improvements. Together, we're not just renovating a park—we're creating a central gathering place that will strengthen our community for generations to come.
